About Lindsey
Lindsey is the Subject Librarian responsible for the Faculty of Arts & Media. She studied Fine Art at NUA, Library Studies at Aberystwyth and has a Higher Education teaching qualification.

Animation books are shelved at Dewey Decimal number 759.4.

Reading lists
Here are the reading lists set for each unit of your study, these will provide links to the required and recommended resources that your tutors wish you to look at.
As well as printed materials, the Library also has a wide selection of online resources to help you with your research. These can be really useful for finding information for reports and essays.
Useful Online Resources for BA Animation:
Box of Broadcasts
BoB is an up to date television streaming service available to all students and staff. BoB allows you to view recently aired programmes from over 65 channels and there is a searchable archive of 2 million broadcasts. You can also record programmes aired in the last 30 days which will be stored on the service permanently, meaning you can watch them again and again. Best of all, you do not need a TV license to use this service.
This service is not available outside of the UK. You will need to register with BoB when you first try and access it.
Video resources to support accessing and using BoB are available on the VLE.
SAGE Journals Online
Abstracts available for all Sage journals. You can access the journals ‘Animation’ and ‘Games and Culture’ in full from this platform.
Stash
The Stash collection showcases exceptional motion design, VFX and animation projects and the people who create them. Over 5000 projects are available for streaming.
Access: on campus only. Click ‘login’ and then click the green ‘login’ button. You do not need to enter a username and password.
VLeBooks
You can find e-books specifically bought for NUA students on VLeBooks.
ACM Digital Library
Search here for access to all Association of Computing Machinery (ACM) publications, including journals, conference proceedings, and papers of special interest groups. The search interface is easy to use and will bring back results across all the ACM content we have access to.
Key titles available from ACM include: ACM Journal on Emerging Technologies in Computing Systems; Proceedings of the ACM on Computer Graphics and Interactive Techniques; Special Interest Group on Computer Graphics.
Journals and magazines cannot be taken out on loan, but you are welcome to browse the latest issues and back copies held on the first floor of the Library.
Journals and magazines are a valuable source of visual and written material to help you in your research. It’s a good idea to get to know the titles related to your course because:
- They are up to date.
- Often the material in them covers contemporary activity and news.
- Young animators and designers will be covered in journals long before they are covered by books.

International Journal of film and media arts
The International Journal of Film and Media Arts is an open access, subsidized by the Film and Media Arts Department of Lusófona University, Lisboa, Portugal. IJFMA is a semiannual publication focusing on all areas of film and media arts research and critique, namely animation, television, media arts and videogames, and their varied social and cultural forms of expression and materialization.
Research Reports
For the BA3a unit you are required to produce a Research Report.
The Research Report gives you the chance to explore an area of interest to you and your practice. It should build on the ideas you laid out in the Research Report Proposal you handed in as part of the BA2b unit.
