‘Review’ – Provides full text of a range of 19th and early 20th century art journals
‘Arts + Architecture Profiles’ – Includes biographical data on over 35,000 artists, architects, craftspeople and designers
‘Design Abstracts Retrospective’ – Contains abstracts of architecture and design journals published between 1900-1986.
‘Research Sources: Posters’ – Contains extensive information on Poster Design.

Ingenta Connect
Ingenta Connect is a hosting platform for a large number of academic journal titles. These include those titles published by Intellect, who publish some great journals in the fields of Visual Arts, Art Education, Film, Fashion and Communication. You might not find a lot of full text on this database, but remember if you do find the details of an article you want to read you can request it via inter-library loan.

JSTOR: Arts and Sciences III
JSTOR is a hosting service which archives journals from across all disciplines. You have access to the Arts and Sciences III collection in full text which contains a large number of titles relating to Art, Architecture and Art History. For all other journals you find in JSTOR you will only be able to read the abstract, but if you want the full text you can request it via inter-library loan.

Abstracts available for all Oxford University Press journals. You can access the journals ‘Journal of Design History’ and ‘Screen’ in full from this platform.

ProQuest Archive Databases
We have access to a number of full text journal articles from British arts and humanities titles from the 19th to the mid-20th century through two archives:

Search either of these databases for historical, sociological and cultural articles on art and society. You can also search all ProQuest databases at the same time by using the ‘change databases’ option at the top of the screen.

Abstracts available for all Sage journals. You can access the journals ‘Animation’ and ‘Games and Culture’ in full from this platform.

Taylor & Francis Online

Abstracts available for all Taylor and Francis journals. You will find that this platform contains a mix of full text and abstracts only – we have a subscriptions to a variety of titles including ‘Design Journal’, ‘Fashion Practice’, ‘Fashion Theory’, ‘Journal of Textile Design Research and Practice’ and ‘Photography and Culture’. We also have access to some older journal articles on the topic of planning and architecture. Remember, if you find a journal abstract but can’t read the full text straight away, you can request it via inter-library loan.
